Coniston 5 Light Crystal Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Chrome IP44

The Coniston is a 350mm diameter flush ceiling light with five G9 bulb fittings arranged beneath a polished chrome canopy, surrounded by cascading tiers of faceted clear crystal. The crystals are arranged in overlapping rows that taper from a wide top tier to a narrower bottom tier, with a single larger crystal drop at the base. The 330mm projection from the ceiling gives the fitting a compact dome profile suited to bathrooms, cloakrooms and hallways with standard ceiling heights.

Designed with IP44 protection for bathroom zone 2, the Coniston can be installed in positions more than 60cm from a bath or shower enclosure where direct water jets are unlikely. The polished chrome canopy reflects light upwards onto the ceiling while the crystal tiers refract and multiply the light from the five G9 bulbs (sold separately). The flush mounting keeps the fitting close to the ceiling, which helps preserve headroom in smaller bathrooms and ensuites where pendant fittings would intrude.

Each crystal element is precision-cut with multiple facets that catch and split the light, creating prism effects across bathroom tiles, mirrors and polished surfaces. The polished chrome finish pairs cleanly with chrome taps, towel rails and other bathroom metalwork. At 8.1kg the fitting requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or reinforced plasterboard anchor — the weight comes from the density of the crystal tiers and the solid metal canopy.

The five G9 fittings accept bulbs up to 10W each. Most users fit warm-white LED G9 bulbs between 2700K and 3000K for flattering bathroom lighting, though cool-white 4000K bulbs are also compatible if brighter task lighting is preferred. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific G9 bulb chosen — dimmable LED bulbs paired with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer will allow adjustable brightness.

Can this be installed directly above a bath or shower?

No. The IP44 rating qualifies the fitting for bathroom zone 2, which means it must be positioned more than 60cm away from the edge of a bath or shower enclosure. Zone 1 (directly above a bath or inside a shower) requires IP65 or higher. The Coniston is suitable for general bathroom ceiling positions outside the zones.

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes five G9 capsule bulbs, each up to 10W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose warm-white LED G9 bulbs between 2700K and 3000K for bathroom use. G9 bulbs are smaller than standard E27 or GU10 fittings and sit horizontally inside the crystal tiers.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 330mm drop is relatively shallow for a decorative flush fitting, making it appropriate for bathrooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights. The flush mounting means the canopy sits directly against the ceiling with minimal projection.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off the power at the consumer unit before cleaning. Use a dry microfibre cloth to wipe each crystal tier. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the crystals or allowing moisture to reach the lamp holders. Do not use household sprays or chemical cleaners on the crystal or chrome.
