Description

Coniston's linear form takes the same crystal-and-metal idea and lays it out in a straight line, sitting close against the ceiling instead of hanging from it. Eleven candle lamps sit behind clear Diyas Select crystal, so the light is broken up and scattered rather than coming from a single bright point. The frame is antique brass, a warm, slightly aged gold that keeps the crystal from looking cold. At a little under a metre long and shallow in depth, it reads as a bar of light rather than a chandelier.

It suits the places a round fitting struggles to serve: over a long dining table, down a hallway, above a kitchen island, or across a wide landing. Because it stays tight to the ceiling, it works in rooms where headroom is short and a pendant would be in the way. We reach for it in dining rooms where the sparkle of crystal is wanted without losing the table to a hanging fitting. It is dimmable, provided the lamps you choose are dimmable themselves; a dimmer switch is bought separately.

Construction is metal throughout, plated in antique brass, with clear crystal held across the length of the body. Keep it looking right by switching off at the wall and dusting the crystal with a clean dry cloth; for fingermarks, a cloth barely damp with warm water, dried off at once, is enough, and avoid sprays that could mark the plating. It carries a one year warranty. Wiring is for ordinary household mains, and it belongs in dry rooms rather than bathrooms or covered porches. We stock the linear in antique brass, polished chrome and french gold, with round Coniston fittings in several sizes if you want a match elsewhere. Lamps are not included.

Eleven E14 candle lamps of the C35 shape, up to 20W each. We would fit LED candles, and lamps are not supplied with the fitting.

What are the dimensions?
It measures 967mm long by 387mm wide, and stands 310mm deep from the ceiling line.

Can it be dimmed?
Yes, as long as the LED candle lamps you fit are marked dimmable and are paired with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied.

How should the crystal be cleaned?
Switch off and let the lamps cool, then dust the crystal with a clean dry cloth. Marks lift with a cloth barely damp with warm water, dried straight afterwards. Keep polishes and sprays away from the brass plating.

Is there a round version in the same style?
Yes. The Coniston range includes round flush fittings from 40cm with 3 lamps up to 95cm with 15 lamps, in antique brass, polished chrome and french gold.

Will it work in a bathroom?
No. It is rated for dry indoor rooms only, so keep it to hallways, bedrooms, kitchens and dining rooms.
