Description

The Coniston is an 800mm ring-form crystal semi-flush ceiling light with 18 x E14 bulb fittings arranged across a French gold frame. Hundreds of faceted clear crystals hang in concentric rows around the ring, catching and refracting light from every angle to create a field of highlights and reflections across the ceiling and walls.

Designed for living rooms, dining rooms and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Coniston provides both ambient and decorative light. The 340mm drop from ceiling to lowest crystal point positions the fixture close enough to the ceiling to suit standard room heights while giving the crystal curtain enough depth to create visual impact. The 800mm diameter makes the fitting substantial enough to anchor a 4m x 4m or larger room without overwhelming smaller spaces when positioned centrally.

The French gold finish on the metal frame gives a warmer, slightly muted tone compared to polished chrome or polished brass, pairing well with traditional, classical and warm contemporary interiors. Each of the 18 E14 sockets accepts bulbs up to 20W (sold separately), and the fitting is dimmable when paired with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. At 19.6kg the Coniston requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or a ceiling rose rated for the weight.

The crystal arrangement uses multiple rows of varying lengths to create a domed profile when viewed from the side, with shorter crystals near the top graduating to longer strands toward the perimeter. This layering gives the fixture depth and prevents the crystals from appearing as a flat curtain, so the fitting remains visually interesting from multiple angles around the room.

The fitting uses 18 x E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 20W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

The 340mm drop from ceiling to lowest crystal point means the fitting projects approximately 340mm into the room. This works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings may find the crystal curtain sits too close to head height in the centre of the room.

Can the Coniston be dimmed?

Yes, when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch. The fitting itself is passive and does not restrict dimming — dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulbs chosen.

How is the weight supported during installation?

At 19.6kg the Coniston requires fixing to a ceiling joist or a ceiling rose rated for the weight. Standard plasterboard fixings are not sufficient. If the existing ceiling rose is not rated for this load, a timber batten should be fixed between joists to provide a secure mounting point.
