Description

A ring of clear crystal held on a French Gold frame, sitting close to the ceiling rather than hanging from a rod or chain. The band measures 80cm across and carries eight candle lamps on E14 sockets, spaced evenly around the circle so the light is spread rather than pooled in the middle. Because the crystal is clear and the metal is warm, the two play off each other: gold reads through the drops when the lamps are lit and the whole ring picks up a soft glitter when they are off.

This is the one we reach for in rooms with a normal ceiling height where a chandelier would sit too low over a table or a stair landing. It works well over a round dining table, in a wide hallway, in a principal bedroom, or in a first floor sitting room with a bay. The scale suits a generous room; in a smaller space the ring can crowd the ceiling. It will dim, provided the lamps you fit are dimmable ones and there is a suitable dimmer on the circuit.

Crystal is Diyas Select, clear throughout, set against plated metalwork in French Gold. To keep it looking right, dust the drops with a clean dry microfibre cloth and go gently over the plating with the same; no sprays, no damp cloths, and give the lamps time to go cold first. It carries a one year warranty. Within the Coniston range the ring shape also comes as a flush fitting in several sizes, in polished chrome and antique brass as well as this gold, and there is a linear version if your table is long rather than round. We would fit warm white LED candle lamps here, clear glass ones so the filament shows through the crystal. Lamps are not included.
