Description

A wide ring of antique brass, hung with clear crystal and lit by eight candle lamps spaced around its circumference. It sits close to the ceiling rather than dropping on a rod, so the light spreads sideways across the ceiling as much as it falls, and the crystal catches it in short bright flashes. At 80cm across it reads as one broad, calm circle rather than a cluster of small parts, and the shallow depth keeps the whole thing tucked up out of the way.

We reach for this where a chandelier would hang too low: a hallway with an ordinary ceiling height, a landing, a dining room in a converted flat, or a big bedroom where you want sparkle but nothing near head height. The spread of holders gives plenty of light for a wide room, and it will dim if you fit dimmable lamps and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch. Our own choice here is LED candle lamps, which keep running costs sensible across that many holders.

The frame is finished in antique brass, warm and slightly softened rather than bright, with clear crystal throughout. When it needs freshening, switch the power off, take the crystal down a section at a time and wipe each piece with a lint free cloth, drying it before it goes back; fingerprints show far more on crystal than on the metal. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not supplied. Elsewhere in the range we stock the same ring as a flush fitting in three further sizes, in polished chrome and French gold as well as antique brass, plus a linear version if you want the same crystal over a long table.
