Description

The Collier is a 417mm semi-flush ceiling light built around a curved metal frame in heritage brass, suspending a circular opal glass diffuser on three articulated arms. The fitting sits 231mm below the ceiling rose, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above where a full pendant would hang too low. Three E14 bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the opal glass bowl, which diffuses the light evenly across the room.

Designed for hallways, landings, bedrooms and dining rooms with lower ceiling heights, the Collier provides ambient light without the visual weight of a chandelier. The semi-flush mount keeps the fitting close to the ceiling plane while the curved support arms and central drop rod add architectural interest. The opal glass prevents direct glare from the bulbs while still allowing enough light transmission for general room illumination.

The heritage brass finish has a warm golden tone with subtle antiquing that softens the metal's reflectivity. The three support arms attach to the ceiling plate with visible pivot joints, giving the fitting a mechanical rather than purely decorative character. What bulbs does it take?

The Collier takes three E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K for ambient bedroom or hallway lighting.

What ceiling height is needed?

With a 231mm drop from the ceiling rose to the bottom of the glass bowl, the fitting suits rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above. The semi-flush design keeps the fitting closer to the ceiling than a pendant would, making it a good choice for bedrooms, hallways and dining rooms where a full-drop pendant would hang too low.

Is the glass bowl removable for cleaning?

Yes. The opal glass diffuser is held in place by the metal frame and can be removed for bulb changes and cleaning. The glass should be wiped with a soft, dry cloth or a barely-damp microfibre cloth with distilled water. Avoid household sprays and chemical cleaners on both the glass and the heritage brass finish.

Can it be used on a sloped ceiling?

The Collier is designed for horizontal ceiling mounting. The three support arms are fixed at angles that assume a flat ceiling plane, so installation on a sloped or vaulted ceiling may result in the fitting sitting at an angle. Check with a qualified electrician before attempting installation on non-horizontal surfaces.
