Description

The Collar is a 147mm diameter LED pendant light built from five vertically-stacked glass elements on a gold metal frame, with an integrated 35W 3000K LED strip housed inside an acrylic diffuser running the length of the column. The glass components alternate between transparent cast glass with vertical ribbing, matte white blown glass spheres and cylinders, and smaller clear blown glass accent pieces, creating a layered vertical composition that diffuses and scatters light as it passes through each layer.

Designed for entrance halls, dining tables and kitchen islands where vertical space and ceiling height allow for statement lighting, the Collar has an adjustable drop between 795mm and 2195mm from ceiling to base, meaning it can be set to suit ceiling heights from 2.4m up to 3.5m. The narrow 147mm diameter footprint keeps the pendant from overwhelming the horizontal plane, while the 1853mm assembled height (at shortest drop setting) gives substantial vertical presence. The gold finish on the canopy and hardware pairs well with warm-toned contemporary and classical interiors.

The integrated LED strip inside the acrylic core provides 35W output at 3000K, casting warm white light through the layered glass elements. Each glass type interacts with the light differently: the ribbed cast glass creates vertical shadow lines, the matte blown spheres and cylinder diffuse the LED into ambient glow, and the clear accent pieces allow direct transmission with minor refraction. The IP20 rating restricts the Collar to dry indoor locations only.

The Maytoni Collar ships with all glass elements, the gold frame, the integrated LED module, and the adjustable suspension system. Installation requires a standard UK ceiling rose connection on 220-240V mains.

What ceiling height is needed for the Collar?

The minimum drop of 795mm plus the 1853mm assembled height means the pendant base sits approximately 2650mm from the ceiling at its shortest setting. This works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. Taller ceilings up to 3.5m can use the extended drop up to 2195mm.

Is the LED replaceable?

The 35W LED strip is integrated into the pendant and is not designed to be user-replaceable. Maytoni rates the LED module for approximately 30,000 hours of use, which equates to around 10 years at typical residential usage levels.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating restricts the Collar to dry indoor locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor covered areas, or any location where moisture or water spray is present.

How is the glass cleaned?

Switch off at the mains before cleaning. The clear cast glass and blown glass elements can be wiped with a soft microfibre cloth dampened with glass cleaner. The matte white blown glass sections should be cleaned with a dry or barely-damp cloth only, as sprays may stain the matte finish.
