Description

This clip-on silk string lampshade measures 80mm at the top rim, 130mm at the base and 110mm in height, with vertical silk threads tensioned around a wire frame in an ivory-white finish. The shade clips directly onto an E14 candle bulb holder using a metal spring clip integrated into the top ring, eliminating the need for a separate carrier or harp fitting.

Designed for table lamps and wall lights with exposed E14 bulb holders, the shade suits bedside lamps, traditional wall sconces and compact accent lamps where a small shade is needed to soften direct bulb glare without blocking too much light output. The 80/130mm taper gives enough presence on a small base without overwhelming a typical bedside table footprint of 300-400mm square.

The silk string construction uses fine threads aligned vertically and bound at top and bottom rings, creating a ribbed texture that diffuses light horizontally while allowing some vertical spill. The ivory-white tone warms slightly under incandescent or warm LED bulbs, casting a soft ambient glow rather than harsh task light. What bulb holder does it fit?

The shade clips onto E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulb holders. The spring clip inside the top ring grips the metal rim of the bulb holder directly, so the lamp must have an exposed holder rather than a shade carrier or harp fitting.

What wattage bulb can be used?

Silk shades tolerate heat from LED bulbs up to 6-8W equivalent (40-60W incandescent equivalent) without scorching. Avoid high-wattage halogen bulbs, which generate excessive heat and may discolour or damage the silk threads over time.

Can the shade be cleaned?

Dust the silk threads gently with a soft brush or dry microfibre cloth. Do not use water or fabric cleaners, as moisture can stain the silk and distort the thread tension. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water may be used sparingly, but test on an inconspicuous area first.
