Clio LED Bulkhead Light - Black IP66

The Clio is an oval bulkhead light with a black resin body and opal polycarbonate diffuser, carrying an IP66 rating for full dust ingress protection and resistance to powerful water jets. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and is rated for operation in temperatures from -60°C to +90°C, making it suitable for exposed outdoor positions as well as humid indoor environments like covered porches, car parks and industrial corridors.

Designed for wall or ceiling mounting on external walls, garden boundaries, pathway edges and under-eaves positions, the Clio provides general area lighting rather than focused task light. The 330mm length and 230mm projection give it a substantial presence on larger expanses of brickwork or rendered facades, while the oval profile softens the visual impact compared to a square bulkhead. The opal diffuser distributes light evenly in all directions without harsh glare or visible bulb filament.

The resin body is UV-stabilised to prevent colour fade under direct sunlight and formulated to resist corrosion from atmospheric pollutants, salt spray in coastal areas, and chemical fertilisers in garden settings. The black finish holds its tone over several years of outdoor exposure without the chalking or surface degradation common to cheaper plastic fittings. The E27 socket accepts LED, halogen or CFL bulbs, with most users choosing a 10-15W LED in 3000K or 4000K depending on whether warm or neutral white light is preferred.

What does the IP66 rating mean in practice?

IP66 indicates the fitting is fully dust-tight (IP6X) and protected against powerful water jets from any direction (IPX6). This means it can withstand driving rain, garden hose spray and coastal salt spray without water ingress affecting the electrical components.

What bulb should I use?

The Clio takes any standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. For outdoor use, a 10-15W LED bulb in either 3000K (warm white) or 4000K (neutral white) is typical. Bulbs are sold separately. The fitting supports dimmable bulbs when paired with a compatible dimmer switch.

Can it be mounted on a ceiling as well as a wall?

Yes. The oval profile works equally well on horizontal ceiling surfaces or vertical walls. The opal diffuser distributes light evenly regardless of mounting orientation.

How is the resin finish maintained?

The UV-stabilised resin resists fading and corrosion without regular maintenance. For cleaning, wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent if needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the UV-stabilised surface layer.
