Description

This is a clear glass LED globe bulb with an E27 screw cap, 12cm long and 8cm in diameter. Through the clear glass you see slim LED filaments standing round a glass stem, so it has the look of a traditional filament lamp while drawing just 7.5W. It gives 806lm of warm white light at 2700K, and it is dimmable. The IP20 rating settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, and never outdoors or anywhere near water.

Because the glass is clear, this is a bulb to show off rather than tuck behind a shade. We think it is at its best in open pendants, bare lampholders and table lamps where the bulb itself is part of the look, whether in a living room, a dining room, a kitchen or a hallway. The 2700K warm white gives a soft, golden glow suited to relaxed rooms, and because it is dimmable one bulb can light a busy family supper and then settle to a low glow late in the evening. Any fitting with an E27 screw lampholder takes it, provided there is room for a globe 8cm in diameter.

The globe is glass and the screw cap is a bright silver metal, so the bulb looks neat even where the cap stays visible. It runs on 220-240V mains at 50/60Hz. To dim it, pair it with a suitable dimmer switch; on an ordinary switch it simply works at full brightness. At 7.5W it draws little power for 806lm, which makes it a sensible choice for a light that stays lit through long evenings. Before changing it, switch the light off and let the glass cool, then give the globe an occasional wipe with a soft, dry cloth to keep the filaments looking crisp.
