Description

This little metal figurine captures a classic small car in pale aqua blue, with rounded bodywork, a curved roof and a short, sloping bonnet. A red, white and green stripe runs over the roof and down the bonnet, where a round badge reads 500, and the paintwork is softly weathered along the seams and edges for a well-travelled, vintage look. Round headlamps, a winged badge on the nose and silver-coloured bumpers at the front and back pick out the detail, and through the open windows you can see the steering wheel and seats inside. It measures 15.2cm across, 7cm high and 7.5cm deep.

At that size it sits happily on a bookshelf, a desk, a mantelpiece or a windowsill, and it is compact enough for a narrow shelf where a larger piece would crowd the space. The soft blue brings a gentle note of colour to a study, a home office, a living room or a hallway sideboard, and it pairs naturally with other vintage pieces, old books or framed prints for a relaxed, nostalgic corner. Because it is a figurine with plenty of small details, it rewards a spot where it can be seen up close, at eye level on a shelf or beside a reading chair. It also makes a cheerful gift.

The car is made of metal, with a painted finish and an aged patina worked into the paint around the doors, wheel arches and louvres at the back. Black tyres with silver hubs, door handles and wing mirrors finish the detail. It is a decorative piece rather than a toy, so it is best kept on display. To keep it looking its best, dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth and keep it away from damp. Set it at a slight angle on a shelf so the stripe and the front badge catch the eye.
