Description

The Citronic Classic is a 12m speaker lead built with 1.5mm² cross-sectional area pure copper conductors running through a cotton-reinforced rubberised outer jacket. Each end terminates in a latching SPK plug that clicks into place on compatible powered speakers, passive cabinets and amplifier outputs, maintaining a secure connection during transport and live use.

Designed for PA systems, touring rigs and fixed installation where the distance between amplifier and speaker exceeds 6m, the 12m length suits medium venue setups, outdoor events and multi-speaker arrays where the amplifier sits at FOH or back-of-stage. The cable diameter of 7mm balances flexibility for coiling with enough rigidity to resist kinking when run across floors or stage risers.

The cotton reinforcement inside the rubberised jacket adds tensile strength without adding bulk, allowing the cable to withstand repeated wrapping and unwrapping on a cable drum. The soft-touch outer surface reduces grip slip when handling during setup and strike, and resists tangling when stored in a flight case. The dual 50-strand pure copper conductors (2 x 1.5mm²) handle continuous power from amplifiers rated up to 800W RMS at 8Ω without signal degradation across the 12m run.

What power rating does the cable support?

The 1.5mm² CSA pure copper conductors handle continuous power up to approximately 800W RMS at 8Ω across the 12m length without significant signal loss. For higher-power applications (1kW+), consider upgrading to a 2.5mm² cable.

Are the SPK connectors compatible with SpeakON?

No. SPK and SpeakON are different connector standards. SPK plugs work with SPK sockets, commonly found on older PA cabinets, some powered speakers and certain amplifier outputs. SpeakON requires a different connector type.

How is the cable stored without kinking?

Coil the cable in over-under loops rather than straight wraps to prevent twist build-up. The cotton-reinforced jacket resists kinking but will retain tight bends if wrapped incorrectly. Store on a cable drum or loosely coiled in a flight case.

Can this cable be used outdoors?

The rubberised jacket provides some weather resistance for temporary outdoor use (festivals, garden events), but the cable is not rated for permanent outdoor installation or submersion. Keep connectors off wet ground and dry thoroughly after use in damp conditions.
