Description

This stoneware Christmas mug pairs a soft pink finish with a raised candy cane and the words 'CANDY CANES and festive cheer' printed beneath it. The cane stands out from the side of the mug in red and white stripes, so you can feel the embossing under your fingers as well as see it. The words sit underneath in red capitals and a looser grey script. Inside, the mug is plain white, so your tea, coffee or hot chocolate looks just as it should. It stands 8.5cm tall, 11.5cm wide and 8.5cm deep, with a generous curved handle and a gently flared base.

Through December it earns its place on the kitchen shelf, beside the kettle for the first brew of a frosty morning, or on the table when the family gathers round. The soft pink makes a change from the usual reds and greens. It sits happily among pastel festive decorations and mixes easily with everyday crockery. It makes a cheerful Christmas gift on its own, or a lovely start to a festive hamper filled with cocoa, marshmallows and a few sweet treats. It is just as welcome on a desk at work for a seasonal cup of tea.

Made from stoneware, the mug has a smooth glossy finish on the outside and a clean white interior. The candy cane is picked out in raised relief, with the lettering printed underneath. To keep the colours and the printed words looking fresh, we suggest a gentle wash by hand in warm soapy water, then a dry with a soft tea towel. Once the season is over, it is easy to put away with the decorations and bring out again next year. You could also keep using it, since a little festive cheer is welcome in any month. Tuck a few candy canes inside before you wrap it for a gift with its own sweet surprise.
