Description
The Chitose is an artificial succulent: a tight rosette of grey-green leaves set in a small, pale grey pot with a rounded, gently tapering shape. The leaves have a soft, frosted look, as if lightly dusted, and the pot has a textured, mottled surface rather like weathered stone, finished with a scattering of small pebbles around the base of the plant. It stands 11cm tall and 8cm across and is made from plastic and papier-mâché. Its colour is green & grey, and the two shades sit quietly side by side.
At 11cm tall, it is sized for the small spaces where a real plant often struggles: a bedside table, a desk, a narrow windowsill or the top of a stack of books. Because it is artificial, it never needs watering, feeding or sunlight, so it suits a dim hallway as happily as a bright living room, and it looks the same in January as it does in June. It suits anyone who wants a touch of green without the upkeep, from busy households to home offices and rented flats. Grouped with books and a framed print, it softens a shelf; on its own, it brings a little calm to a desk.
At 0.22KG, it is light enough to move from room to room whenever you fancy a change. The muted grey pot sits comfortably alongside pale wood, white walls and soft neutral textiles, while the grey-green leaves pick up the cooler tones of a room. Papier-mâché is a paper-based material and does not take kindly to water, so keep it indoors and away from splashes. At 8cm across, it fits on even a narrow shelf, which makes it an easy, practical way to bring some green into a corner that needs it.
