This little metal trinket box takes the form of a grown chimpanzee sitting with a baby chimpanzee at its side. The larger figure has one hand raised to its brow and the other arm resting gently over the little one. The fur is a deep, glossy black, set off by peach faces, ears, hands and feet, with a pale muzzle and dark eyes on the larger figure. It stands 6.3cm tall, 4.2cm wide and 5.1cm deep, small enough to sit in the palm of your hand. The upper body lifts back on a hinge to reveal a cream compartment rimmed in gold, hidden neatly inside the figure.

Because the compartment is compact, it suits the little things that otherwise go astray: a pair of stud earrings, a ring taken off for washing up, a spare button or a folded note worth keeping. On a dressing table or bedside table it keeps those pieces in one place.
