Description

Chiara is a lounging chair and its matching footstool, sold together as one purchase. The chair has no arms, so the seat is open on both sides and the eye reads the curve of the shell rather than a bulky frame. Both pieces are upholstered in a natural chenille over foam, carried on a plywood and steel frame with black metal sled legs. The seat measures 63 x 48cm and sits 42cm from the floor, with 38cm of backrest rising behind it.

It suits a living room corner, a bedroom, or a home office where you want somewhere to read that is not your desk chair. The low seat height and the open sides make it easy to drop into sideways, and the footstool at 54cm wide and 40cm high lines up close to seat level, so you can stretch out fully or push it away and use it as a spare perch when people come round. Both pieces are rated to a maximum load of 110kg. At 8.80kg the chair is light enough to move on your own, and the footstool at 3.80kg can be carried in one hand.

The chair arrives partially assembled, with a user guide in the box. Chenille takes its character from the way the yarn is made: short lengths of fibre are held between two twisted core threads, which gives the surface its even, velvety nap and its quiet depth of colour. In this natural shade it reads as a warm off white against the black of the metal.
