Description

The Cheadle is a 3 light semi flush ceiling light built around three upward-facing opal glass shades mounted on curved polished chrome arms, each housing a G9 LED bulb. The fitting measures 450mm across and projects 410mm from the ceiling, with the polished chrome canopy and central column supporting the three-arm frame. IP44 rated, it's suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3.

Designed for bathrooms with 2.4m or higher ceilings, the Cheadle provides ambient lighting above a bath, in the centre of a family bathroom, or over a double vanity where ceiling height allows a semi-flush fitting without head clearance issues. The opal glass diffuses the light from the three 3W LED G9 bulbs (supplied), softening the output and reducing glare on mirrors and reflective tiles. The semi-flush mount sits closer to the ceiling than a pendant but hangs lower than a flush fitting, giving the castings room to breathe.

The three arms curve outward and upward from a central turned column, with beaded detailing on the chrome castings echoing classical chandelier proportions scaled to suit a bathroom. The opal glass is smooth white milk glass, opaque enough to hide the bulb but translucent enough to glow when lit. The polished chrome finish pairs with chrome taps, towel rails and mirror frames in traditional and transitional bathroom schemes. Total output from the three 3W LEDs is 9W at 3000K warm white.

What does the IP44 rating mean for bathroom use?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against splashing water from any direction. It's suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, which covers most ceiling positions away from shower enclosures and directly above baths. It is not rated for installation inside a shower cubicle or directly above a bath where it could be hit by shower spray.

Are the bulbs replaceable?

Yes. The fitting comes with three 3W LED G9 bulbs that are replaceable. G9 LEDs are widely available and the sockets are accessible by unscrewing the opal glass shades from the chrome mounts.

What ceiling height does it need?

With a 410mm projection from the ceiling, the fitting works best in bathrooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. In rooms with 2.2m ceilings the bottom of the shades may sit too low for comfortable clearance above a vanity or in walking areas.

Can the light output be increased?

The G9 sockets accept G9 LED bulbs up to 3W as specified by Elstead. Higher-wattage G9 LEDs are available but using them may void the warranty and could generate excess heat within the enclosed glass shades.
