Description
The Charlie is a 158cm abstract sculpture cast in aluminium with a textured brass-toned finish, forming a spiralling open-knot shape on a 30cm square matte black metal base. The sculpture is hand-finished, so the surface shows variation in texture and patina across the curves and twists of the form. Light catches differently on each facet of the spiral as viewing angle changes.
Designed for hallways, entrance areas, staircase landings and living room corners where vertical space allows for tall decorative pieces, the Charlie works in contemporary, industrial and mid-century interiors. The 30cm footprint fits narrow alcoves and corner positions where a wider sculpture would not, while the 158cm height draws the eye upward and fills vertical space without requiring floor area.
The aluminium construction keeps the weight to 13kg despite the height, making it manageable for positioning and moving if needed. The brass finish over aluminium gives a warm metallic tone that pairs with warm woods, concrete, exposed brick and neutral fabric upholstery. The matte black base grounds the piece visually and provides stability on hard floors, tiles and low-pile rugs.

Frequently Asked
What is the sculpture made from?
The sculpture is cast aluminium with a hand-applied brass-toned finish. The base is matte black metal. Total weight is 13kg.
How much floor space does it need?
The base is 30cm x 30cm square, so the sculpture fits in narrow hallways, alcoves and corner positions. The spiralling form rises vertically without extending significantly beyond the base footprint.
Does the finish vary between pieces?
Yes. The brass finish is hand-applied and shows natural variation in patina and texture across the surface. No two pieces are identical, which is characteristic of the hand-finished production process.
Is it stable on rugs?
The 30cm square base provides stability on hard floors, tiles and low-pile rugs. On thick or shag rugs, placing the sculpture on a firmer surface or rug underlay is recommended to prevent rocking.
