Description

The Hinkley Cello is a 15 light chandelier built across three tiers with bell-shaped faux alabaster glass shades on a scrolled antique bronze frame. The frame features curved uprights that bow outward at each tier, creating a pyramidal silhouette that measures 1194mm in diameter at its widest point. Each of the 15 arms ends in an E27 socket (bulbs sold separately) and a light amber glass shade that diffuses the light while showing the bulb outline when lit.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and double-height living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Cello's three-tier structure requires vertical clearance to avoid the lowest tier appearing compressed. The drop is adjustable on installation from a minimum of 1212mm to a maximum of 4260mm, with 3048mm of adjustable chain supplied. For a typical 2.7m ceiling, the chandelier hangs with approximately 1.5m clearance below the ceiling rose, positioning the lowest tier around 2m above floor level.

The antique bronze finish is applied to solid metal castings and fabricated scrollwork, giving the frame a dark brown tone with subtle brass highlights visible where the finish has been rubbed back on edges and high points. The faux alabaster shades are moulded glass with a textured surface that mimics natural stone veining, providing diffusion without the weight or fragility of genuine alabaster. At 1194mm diameter, the Cello suits rooms of 5m x 5m or larger — smaller spaces risk the chandelier dominating the room visually.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting's own height is 1092mm, and the minimum total drop from ceiling rose to lowest point is 1212mm. For comfortable clearance in a room, ceiling heights of 2.7m or above are recommended. The chain allows adjustment up to 4260mm total drop for double-height spaces.

How is the drop adjusted?

The 3048mm chain is adjusted during installation by removing links to shorten the suspension to the desired height. Once installed, the drop is fixed unless the fitting is taken down and re-hung.
