Description
The Hinkley Cello is a single-bulb wall light combining a faux alabaster glass shade with an antique bronze metal frame. The shade tapers upward in a flared bell shape, while the bronze backplate, curved arm and turned detailing give the fitting a traditional profile. The E27 socket accepts standard Edison screw bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), allowing choice of LED, halogen or filament styles.
Designed for hallways, stairwells, bedrooms and living rooms where ambient or accent lighting is needed without a ceiling pendant, the Cello projects 242mm from the wall and casts light both upward through the open top of the shade and outward through the translucent glass. The 210mm fitting height and 216mm width suit standard wall mounting heights of 1.6-1.8m above floor level, either as a single fixture or in pairs flanking a doorway or mirror.
The antique bronze finish is a brushed, aged treatment with highlights along the raised details of the turned collar and backplate rim, giving depth and variation across the metalwork. The faux alabaster glass mimics the translucent, warm-toned qualities of natural alabaster without the brittleness or weight, making the shade more durable in high-traffic areas. The combined glass and metal construction gives the fitting approximately 1.2kg weight, requiring secure fixing into masonry or a stud.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Cello take?
The fitting uses a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting in hallways and living rooms.
How far does it project from the wall?
The Cello projects 242mm from the wall surface once installed. This makes it suitable for hallways and rooms where furniture is set back from the wall, but check clearance in narrow corridors or near door swings.
Is the glass shade replaceable?
The faux alabaster glass shade is held in place by the turned collar beneath it. If the shade becomes damaged, contact Hinkley or your retailer for replacement glass availability and fitting guidance.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The Cello carries no IP rating and is designed for dry interior use only. It is not suitable for bathrooms or other moisture-prone areas unless installed well away from direct water contact and in compliance with UK wiring regulations for bathroom zones.
