Cell Outdoor Down Wall Light - Graphite

The Cell is an outdoor down wall light built from graphite-finished aluminium with a clear plastic diffuser panel and a single E27 bulb fitting. The open-frame lantern design directs light downwards through the diffuser and sideways through the four clear glass panels, casting both functional ground illumination and ambient wash light onto the wall surface. The IP65 rating protects the fitting against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it suitable for fully exposed exterior positions.

Designed for entrance porches, doorways, garage sides and garden walls, the Cell mounts on a rectangular backplate that sits flush to the wall surface, with the lantern cage projecting 30.5cm outward on a horizontal arm. The downward light throw suits paths, steps and door thresholds where clear visibility underfoot is needed after dark. The E27 fitting accepts standard LED or filament bulbs up to 15W, allowing control over colour temperature and light output depending on the application.

The graphite finish is a dark charcoal powder-coat applied to the aluminium frame, giving a non-reflective surface that reads as near-black in most lighting conditions but shows subtle grey tones under direct sunlight. The clear diffuser at the base of the lantern prevents direct glare from the bulb when viewed from ground level, while the open sides of the frame allow the bulb itself to contribute decorative visual interest when a vintage filament or visible-filament LED is fitted. The combined aluminium and clear plastic construction keeps the overall weight to approximately 800g, allowing installation on rendered, brick or timber-clad walls without additional structural support.

What IP rating does the Cell carry and where can it be used?

The Cell is rated IP65, meaning it is fully dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. It can be used in fully exposed outdoor positions including coastal areas, but should not be submerged or exposed to high-pressure wash-down.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 15W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED for functional outdoor lighting, or a visible-filament vintage-style LED for decorative effect through the clear side panels.

How is the light directed?

The lantern design directs the majority of light downwards through the clear diffuser at the base, illuminating the ground or pathway directly below the fitting. Light also escapes sideways through the four clear panels, providing ambient wash onto the wall surface and contributing visibility from oblique angles.

Can it be fitted to rendered or timber walls?

Yes. The rectangular backplate mounts with standard screws and wall plugs. The combined weight of approximately 800g does not require additional structural support on typical brick, rendered block or 18mm-plus exterior timber cladding. Ensure fixings are rated for outdoor use and that cables are sealed at entry points to maintain the IP rating.
