Description

The Cayman is a dual-function LED wall light with a 130mm square backplate in satin nickel, combining a 3W adjustable reading spotlight with a 6W diffused backplate glow. Both light sources operate at 3000K warm white and are independently controlled via separate switches mounted on the backplate, allowing the reading arm and ambient backlight to be used together or separately.

Designed for bedside mounting, the Cayman suits hotel headboards, residential bedrooms and reading corners where both task and ambient lighting are needed from a single fitting. The reading arm pivots on a ball joint, directing a focused 30° beam onto a book or tablet surface, while the backplate casts a wider 120° wash of light onto the wall behind. The dual-switch arrangement means one person can read with the spotlight while the ambient glow is switched off, or both can be used together to provide general bedroom illumination.

The satin nickel finish on the metal backplate and reading arm provides a mid-tone metallic surface that reflects less light than polished chrome while maintaining a contemporary appearance. The 116mm projection from the wall keeps the reading arm clear of pillow positions when mounted at standard bedside height. At 0.6kg the fitting is light enough for plasterboard walls with appropriate fixings. The combined 9W LED output delivers 620 lumens total across both light sources.

Can the reading arm and backlight be used independently?

Yes. The Cayman has two separate switches on the backplate, one for the 3W reading spotlight and one for the 6W backplate glow. Each can be operated independently, allowing you to use just the reading light, just the ambient backlight, or both together.

Is the reading arm adjustable?

The reading arm pivots on a ball joint where it connects to the backplate, allowing the light to be angled towards a reading position. The arm does not extend or retract, but the pivot gives sufficient range to direct the 30° beam onto a book or device.

Is it dimmable?

No. The integrated LEDs are not dimmable and the fitting is not compatible with dimmer switches.

What height above the bed should it be mounted?

Typical bedside reading lights are mounted 1-1.2m above mattress height, which positions the light approximately at shoulder level when sitting up in bed. The 116mm projection from the wall keeps the reading arm clear of pillow positions.
