Cavo Figure 8 Copper Cable 2 Core 0.5mm for LED Strip - Clear

This is a slim clear flex of the figure 8 type: two insulated conductors lying side by side in a joined sheath, so the whole run stays flat rather than twisting into a round bundle. The conductor size is 0.5mm, which is the usual choice for low voltage LED work, and the see-through sheath keeps the pair discreet against pale timber, glass shelving or a light painted surface. It is sold by the metre, and however many metres you order arrive as one continuous piece rather than cut lengths to join.

We keep this alongside our LED strip and driver accessories because it is the cable most of those jobs actually need: extending a strip run along a shelf, taking power to cabinet or plinth lighting, or replacing a short factory lead that will not quite reach. It suits anyone wiring small LED items where the flex will be partly visible and a black cord would draw the eye. For heavier duties we would point you towards a thicker flat cable instead.

The two conductors part cleanly along the joined edge where you need to separate them for terminating, and the clear insulation lets you keep track of which side is which along the run. Keep any spare loosely coiled rather than folded, since a sharp kink in a flat cable stays in it, and a dry cloth is all the sheath ever asks for if it gathers dust. The same figure 8 profile is stocked in black and in white if you would rather the flex disappeared into a dark backing, and there is a black and red version in the range where clear polarity marking matters more than discretion. Thicker two core flat cables are held in the same range for larger fittings. This is cable only, with no connectors or plugs fitted.

How is the cable supplied if I order several metres?

As one continuous length. Order the number of metres you need and it is cut from the reel in a single piece, so there are no joins to make along the run.

What conductor size is this, and what is the American equivalent?

It is 0.5mm cross section, equivalent to 20 AWG.

Is it suitable for mains voltage fittings?

It is intended for wiring LED items and LED strip on low voltage. For mains rated work, choose one of the VDE approved flat cables in the range, available in 0.75mm, 1.0mm and 1.5mm.

Why choose clear rather than black or white?

Clear reads as almost nothing against pale wood, glass and light paintwork. Black and white versions of the same figure 8 cable are also stocked if your backing is darker or brighter.

Can the two cores be separated?

Yes. The pair is joined along a thin web, so a short length can be split by hand or with a blade at the end of the run when you need to terminate each core individually.

How should I store the offcuts?

Coil them loosely and keep them dry. Flat cable holds a crease if it is folded tightly, so avoid sharp bends in storage.
