Description

A black round flex with a smooth PVC sheath, two cores at 0.75mm and VDE approval behind it. It is sold by the metre, and however many metres you order come as one continuous run rather than a handful of cut pieces, so you can measure once and trim to the length you actually want. The outer jacket is slim and stays supple in the hand, which makes it straightforward to feed through a cord grip or a lamp holder.

We keep this on the shelf for pendant drops, for rewiring table and floor lamps, and for putting fresh flex on an older fitting that is worth saving. Black is the one we reach for most often: it draws a deliberate line down from a pale ceiling and disappears altogether against dark paint, exposed timber or a black shade. If you are building a pendant from separate parts, order a little more than your finished drop, because the spare gives you room to settle the height once the shade is on. It suits anyone happy to work with loose components rather than buy a ready made set.

The sheath is PVC, plain black and even along its length, with no braid or weave to trap dust. A dry cloth is all it usually needs, or a barely damp one for marks picked up in handling, and it is worth keeping solvents and furniture polish well away from the surface. We stock the same gauge in white PVC and in clear, and braided cable in black, white, blue, purple, red and lime green if you would rather have a woven texture than a smooth one.
