Description

A red braided flex for lighting work, built with two core, 0.75mm conductors under a woven outer sleeve. The braid gives the cord a soft textile surface rather than the shine of plain PVC, and the red reads as a full, warm shade rather than a muted one. It is VDE approved, and it is sold by the metre, so the quantity you order arrives as one continuous run rather than a bundle of short pieces.

We reach for a braided flex whenever the cord is going to be seen: pendants dropped over an island or a counter, a run of hanging bulbs down a stairwell, or a single pendant hung off a hook and swept across to a socket. It is equally useful for tidying up an old table lamp or floor lamp whose original cord has gone stiff and grubby, and the red suits a kitchen with painted cabinetry, a workshop-style space, or a child's room where a bit of colour is welcome. Ask your electrician to confirm the flex suits the load of the fitting you have in mind.

The woven covering sits over insulated conductors, so the finish stays even along the length and resists the scuffing that dulls smooth cable. Keep it away from heat sources and standing damp, and if the braid picks up dust, run a dry cloth along it with the power off at the wall. Trimmed ends are best finished neatly, as loose braid can fray if it is left unsupported.
