Cavo Braided Cable 2 Core 6mm Dia 1m Long - Purple

Fabric braid in a muted purple covers the full run of this two core flex, with 0.75mm conductors inside. It is VDE approved, and however much you order arrives as one continuous length rather than a bundle of short pieces, so you can measure against the job and cut once. The braid gives the cable a soft, slightly textured surface and a colour that reads closer to heather than violet, which keeps it from shouting when it is on show.

We reach for coloured braided flex when the cable is part of the look rather than something to hide: a bare bulb pendant on a long drop, a rewire for a favourite table lamp whose old flex has gone tired, or a row of shade rings over a kitchen island where the cords are as visible as the shades themselves. It suits anyone making up their own lamps and pendant sets, and it is just as useful for smartening up something bought years ago. Purple sits happily with brass and warm wood, and holds its own against deep painted walls.

Both cores sit inside PVC insulation with the woven outer sleeve over the top, pliable enough to coil neatly and firm enough to hang straight once it has settled. Keep it looking well by running a dry cloth along the braid now and then, as fabric gathers dust in a way smooth PVC does not, and only ever wipe it when the flex is disconnected and cold. We stock the same braided cable in blue, lime green, white, black and red, along with plain PVC and clear versions in the same conductor size, so a set of pendants can be matched exactly or deliberately mixed. What size are the conductors?

How thick is the finished cable?

The braided flex measures roughly 6mm across, so it passes comfortably through most cord grips and lamp holders.

Will I receive separate one metre pieces?

No. Order the number of metres you need and it is supplied as a single continuous length, ready to cut to your own measurement.

Can the braid be trimmed without fraying?

Cut cleanly with sharp side cutters and slide a length of heatshrink or tape over the cut end straight away to hold the weave together while you work.

How should I clean it?

A dry cloth along the braid lifts dust. Avoid soaking the sleeve or using solvents, and always make sure the flex is disconnected and cool first.

Is it suitable for a long pendant drop?

Yes, it is intended for exactly that sort of use, and the woven sleeve looks the part where the cable is visible rather than tucked away.
