Description

A woven braid in a deep, earthy brown covers this flex, giving it the character of old cloth-covered wiring. Three cores run inside, each at 0.75mm, and the finished cable measures about 6mm across, slim enough to feed through the cord grips and ceiling cups used on most pendant sets. It is VDE approved. The braid does something useful for looks as well: it holds a gentle curve rather than kinking, so a long drop hangs straight and reads as part of the fitting rather than an afterthought.

We use it for rewiring older pendants, for shortening or lengthening a drop, and for lights we build up from separate parts, where the tone of the sleeve matters as much as the shade. Brown sits well with brass, antique copper, bronze and bare timber, and it recedes against dark ceilings in a way white flex never quite manages. Order it by the metre and it arrives as a single continuous run, so you can take one uninterrupted length for a stairwell drop or a row of kitchen pendants. We would keep it to dry interior positions.

The braid is tightly woven over insulated cores and holds its colour well, with no coating to flake or yellow. To keep it looking right, switch off at the supply and run a dry cloth along the length now and then; avoid solvents and household sprays, which mark woven sleeving quickly and can leave it stiff. It carries a one year warranty. Braided flex in this range runs to several other colours if brown is not the tone you want, and there are plain PVC and clear cables alongside it for lighter LED wiring. Fittings, cord grips and lamps are bought separately.
