Description

A braided flex in plain black, two core at 0.75mm, cut and supplied as a continuous length however many metres you order. The woven outer sleeve has a soft, matt texture rather than the shine of plain PVC, so it reads as part of the fitting instead of something to hide. It is VDE approved and slim in the hand, easy to coil and easy to run. We keep it on the shelf for pendant work and for tidying up cable that ends up on show.

Black is the one we choose most often: it disappears against dark ceilings, beams and steelwork, and gives a crisp line down a white wall when a bit of contrast is wanted. It suits pendant drops, cluster fittings, plug-in table and floor lamps, and projects where a tired old flex has let a good lamp down. Anyone building a bespoke light or refreshing a shop fit will get plenty of use from it, and it is equally at home in a kitchen, a hallway or a workshop bench light.

The braid is woven tightly over the cores and finished in black throughout, so scuffs and handling marks do not show the way they do on a glossy sleeve. Keep it clear of heat sources and sharp edges, and coil it loosely rather than folding it, which keeps the weave even. Dust that settles on an exposed drop comes away with a dry cloth drawn gently along the braid. We stock the same braided cable in blue, red, purple, lime green and white, along with black and white PVC versions and a clear flex, so a run can be matched to the fitting or deliberately set against it.
