Description

The Knightsbridge NETJ6 is a CAT6 UTP junction box designed for joining or repairing CAT5e and CAT6 network cables without splicing or soldering. The box houses two rows of IDC (insulation displacement contact) terminals on a PCB, allowing solid copper conductors to be punched down in the correct wiring sequence for T568A or T568B configurations.

Used in home networking, commercial data installations and structured cabling repairs where a cable run needs extending or a damaged section replacing, the junction box maintains the integrity of the CAT6 specification when correctly terminated. The white polycarbonate housing measures 63mm x 33mm x 29mm and carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for indoor use in wall cavities, ceiling voids and enclosures where it will not be exposed to moisture or dust ingress.

The snap-fit lid clips onto the base once cables are terminated, protecting the connections and preventing accidental contact with live conductors. The polycarbonate construction resists impact and provides long-term dimensional stability in typical indoor environments. Each IDC terminal accepts one solid core conductor, colour-coded to match standard UTP cable jacket colours for quick identification during installation.

Frequently Asked

Can this be used for CAT5e cables?

Yes. The NETJ6 is CAT6 compliant, meaning it supports the tighter tolerances of CAT6 installations, but is also fully compatible with CAT5e cable runs. The IDC terminals accept both CAT5e and CAT6 solid core conductors.

What type of cable does it accept?

The junction box accepts solid core UTP (unshielded twisted pair) cable only. Stranded cable cores cannot be reliably terminated in IDC terminals and should not be used with this junction box.

Does it require a punch-down tool?

Yes. A standard 110-type punch-down tool is needed to seat the conductors properly in the IDC terminals. Attempting to push wires in by hand or with a screwdriver will not provide a reliable connection.

Where can it be installed?

The IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor locations such as wall cavities, ceiling voids, under raised floors and inside enclosures. Do not install in locations exposed to moisture, direct water spray or high dust levels.
