Description

The Castelpoto is a tall LED floor lamp in black steel, topped by a ring of light split into two open arcs that sit at an angle above a slim stem. It stands 180cm tall, measures 40cm at its widest and rests on a round base 28cm in diameter, so it needs very little floor space while lifting the light well above a seated head. A white plastic shade runs along the inside of the arcs over integrated LEDs: two lights of 8.8W each, giving 1,000 lumens apiece at 3000K, a warm white. Integrated LEDs mean there are no bulbs to buy or change. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms.

We see it most at home beside a sofa or an armchair in a living room, where the open ring casts a soft glow over the wall and a reading corner. The slim black stem and round base suit a modern room, sitting as comfortably against pale plaster as alongside dark furniture. It works just as well in a bedroom corner or a home office, anywhere you want light at standing height without adding a ceiling fitting.

The body and stem are steel in a black finish. Partway along the stem sits a touch panel with plus and minus keys, an M key and a power symbol, so you can dim the light at hand height rather than reaching for a switch at floor level. That makes it easy to keep a brighter setting for reading and a lower one for the evening. The lamp weighs 3.193KG packed, and the installation instructions are available as a download. One practical note before you choose a spot: allow for the 28cm base and the 40cm width at the top, so the arcs clear a sofa arm, a shelf or a curtain.
