Description
The Casa is a 541mm outdoor wall lantern with a cylindrical seeded glass shade enclosed by hand-forged black ironwork. Two E14 candle bulbs (sold separately, max 40W each) sit inside the clear seeded glass, which disperses light outward while the scrollwork casts decorative shadow patterns onto adjacent walls. The twisted iron bracket and decorative scrollwork at top and base are forged rather than cast, giving each fitting slight variation in the metalwork detail.
Designed for mounting beside front doors, on garage walls, or flanking patio openings where decorative exterior light is needed, the Casa suits traditional, Spanish colonial and Mediterranean-style homes. The 236mm projection from the wall and 248mm width make it proportionate for standard doorways and mid-sized exterior walls without overwhelming smaller facades. The IP44 rating protects the fitting from splashing water and solid objects above 1mm, making it suitable for covered porches, recessed doorways and sheltered exterior walls rather than fully exposed locations.
The black finish is powder-coated over the forged iron frame, giving corrosion resistance in UK coastal and urban environments where airborne salt and pollutants can degrade raw metal. The seeded glass has irregular bubble texture moulded into the cylinder, softening the light output and reducing glare when viewed directly from the side. The combination of textured glass and open scrollwork gives a softer, more diffused light spread than clear glass lanterns of equivalent wattage, making the Casa better suited to ambient entrance lighting than focused task light.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Casa take?
The lantern takes two E14 small Edison screw bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K to mimic traditional flame appearance.
Can this be fitted in fully exposed locations?
The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction but not direct water jets or full immersion. The Casa is best suited to covered porches, recessed doorways and sheltered wall positions rather than fully exposed gable ends or unsheltered coastal walls.
How is the lantern wired?
The Casa back plate conceals a standard UK wiring terminal block. Mains cable feeds through the wall and connects inside the back box. Installation requires a qualified electrician and compliance with Part P Building Regulations for exterior electrical work.
Does the seeded glass affect light output?
Yes. The bubble texture in the glass diffuses and softens the light, reducing direct glare and creating a more ambient spread. This makes the Casa better for decorative entrance lighting than for task lighting where brightness and clarity are priorities.
