Carroll Traditional Wall Light - Polished Brass IP44

The Carroll is a single-light traditional wall light with a polished brass arm and circular backplate, paired with a ribbed clear glass shade shaped like an upward-facing tulip. The fitting includes a 3W 3000K G9 LED bulb that sits inside the glass, casting warm light through the vertical ribbing. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, making it suitable for positions outside the shower enclosure but within typical bathroom moisture levels.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and bathrooms, the Carroll works as ambient lighting in pairs flanking a mirror or as singular accent lighting on a landing or corridor wall. The 212mm projection from the wall places the shade approximately 150mm clear of the mounting surface, giving enough clearance for the light to spread without creating harsh shadows directly beneath the fitting. The polished brass finish suits traditional, classical and period interiors, and pairs well with warm-toned paint schemes and heritage tile finishes in bathrooms.

The solid brass construction gives the Carroll a weight and substance that differentiates it from lighter pressed-metal fittings in the same price bracket. The vertical ribbing on the glass shade softens the light output and creates a diffused glow rather than a direct beam, reducing glare when the fitting is installed at typical eye-level heights of 1.5-1.8m above floor level. The included G9 LED provides 3000K warm white light at 3W, which is sufficient for ambient and accent use but not for task lighting like shaving or makeup application without supplementary lighting.

Can the Carroll be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating provides protection against splashing water from any direction, making the Carroll suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3. This means it can be installed outside the shower enclosure but within the general bathroom environment where moisture and humidity are present. It should not be installed directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure (zones 0 and 1).

Is the LED bulb replaceable?

Yes. The fitting uses a standard G9 LED bulb, which can be replaced if it fails. The included 3W 3000K LED is replaceable with any G9 bulb up to the maximum wattage stated in the specification.

What height should it be installed at?

For hallways and bedrooms, typical installation height is 1.5-1.8m above floor level. For bathroom vanity lighting flanking a mirror, the height depends on the mirror position but is usually 1.6-1.7m to place the light source at upper-face level without causing glare when looking directly at the fitting.

Does the polished brass require maintenance?

Polished brass will tarnish naturally over time unless lacquered. If the fitting is lacquered (most Elstead polished brass fittings are), it can be wiped with a dry cloth. If unlacquered or if the lacquer wears, the brass can be polished with a standard brass cleaner to restore the shine, or left to develop a natural patina depending on preference.
