Description
The Carnaval is a 150x100cm photography print on tempered glass showing a profile portrait of a masked figure wearing a gold leaf mask with black feather and spotted tulle detailing against a dark background. The photograph is printed directly onto 4mm tempered glass, creating a high-gloss surface that reflects ambient light and gives the image depth and contrast under both natural and artificial lighting.
Designed for statement walls in dining rooms, entrance halls, hotel-style bedrooms and creative studio spaces, the print works best on walls with sufficient viewing distance (2.5-3m minimum) to appreciate the full composition. The gold tones in the mask pick up warm lighting and pair with brass fixtures, bronze frames, velvet textiles and dark wood furniture. The ironwork wall fixings included with the print allow the glass to be mounted flat against the wall with approximately 10mm standoff.
The tempered glass substrate weighs 14.3kg across the 1.5m width, requiring two-person installation onto a solid masonry or stud wall with appropriate fixings for the wall type. The glass thickness of 4mm gives rigidity without excessive weight, and the tempered treatment makes the glass approximately four times stronger than standard annealed glass. The print surface is wipeable with a soft damp cloth, making it practical in kitchens and dining areas where standard paper or canvas prints would be at risk from steam and splashes.
The baroque masquerade theme pairs well with interiors that use theatrical or layered styling — dark wall colours (charcoal, navy, deep green), metallic accents, and textures like velvet, leather and polished stone. The composition balances ornament (the detailed mask work) with negative space (the dark background), making it suitable for rooms where a feature piece is needed without overwhelming the space.

Frequently Asked
What wall type is needed to support 14.3kg?
The print requires a solid masonry wall or timber stud wall with appropriate fixings. The included ironwork fixings suit masonry; for stud walls, use heavy-duty toggle bolts or cavity fixings rated for the weight. Two-person installation is recommended due to the size and fragility of the glass during handling.
Can the glass be cleaned?
Yes. Wipe the glass surface with a soft damp microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or marks, a standard glass cleaner applied to the cloth (not sprayed directly onto the glass) works well. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the print surface.
Is the glass safety-rated?
The glass is tempered, making it approximately four times stronger than standard annealed glass. If broken, tempered glass fractures into small granular chunks rather than large sharp shards, reducing injury risk.
What lighting works best with this print?
Warm-toned lighting (2700-3000K) complements the gold leaf detailing in the mask. Avoid direct spotlighting onto the glass, which creates glare; instead, use ambient room lighting or wall washers positioned to graze the wall above or below the print.
