The Carlo is a slim floor lamp in steel, finished in a muted sage green with white inside the shade. It stands 170cm tall on a round base 23cm across and measures 8.5cm wide, so it needs very little floor space. A flexible gooseneck arm curves up from the stem to a domed head that you can angle wherever the light is wanted. It takes an E14 bulb of up to 18W, and the bulb is not included. With an IP20 rating, this green floor lamp is made for dry rooms indoors.

Its natural home is beside a desk, an armchair or a reading corner, where the head can be turned to put light onto a page or a keyboard. The small footprint lets it tuck between a sofa and a wall, or stand next to a bed, without crowding the room. We like the sage green with oak floors, white walls and house plants, where it gives a home office a softer look than black or chrome. Anyone who reads in the evening or works from home gains a light that goes exactly where it is needed.

The body is steel, with the same sage green running from the base, up the stem and over the head, and white kept for the inside of the shade.
