The Cardillio is an LED spotlight bar for the ceiling: a slim black bar with a light strip along its centre and two ring-shaped spotlights on short stems, one towards each end. The body is aluminium and steel in a black finish, and each ring has a plastic shade with a satin finish that softens the glow. It is 38.5cm long, 8.5cm wide and 19.5cm high. The LEDs are integrated, so there are no bulbs to buy or change, and each of the two lights gives 400lm at 3000K, a warm white. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

Because each ring can be angled on its own, the bar suits a room where you want light aimed somewhere useful rather than spread flat across the ceiling: at a bookcase, a picture, a desk or an armchair. We think it works well in a hallway, a study or a living room with shelving, where a single central pendant can leave the walls dim. The black finish sits comfortably with dark furniture and monochrome schemes, and at 38.5cm long it fits a modest ceiling without crowding it.
