Cappanna 1 Light Outdoor Wall Lantern - Textured Black Waterfall Glass

The Cappanna is a 258mm-high outdoor wall lantern with a textured black metal frame and waterfall glass panels that ripple light in vertical waves. A single E27 bulb (sold separately, 60W max) sits behind the glass, turning the lantern body itself into the diffuser. The squared frame uses an overhanging capstone roof and a geometric backplate that extends the lantern away from the wall on a 200mm projection.

Designed for front doors, porch entries, side gates and courtyard walls, the Cappanna suits both contemporary and transitional architecture. The 258mm height and 164mm width fit comfortably on narrow wall sections between windows or either side of a door without overpowering smaller facades. The IP44 rating protects against rain splash and dust ingress, making it suitable for UK exterior installation in covered and semi-exposed positions.

The textured black finish has a slight grain that softens reflections under daylight and pairs with both warm brick and cool render exteriors. The waterfall glass creates a pattern of vertical ripples across each panel, diffusing direct glare from the bulb while maintaining enough transparency to see the filament or LED element inside. The capstone roof overhangs the glass on all four sides, sheltering the top edge from direct rain and adding architectural weight to the otherwise minimal frame.

What IP rating does it carry?

The Cappanna is IP44 rated, providing protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. This suits covered porches, recessed entries, and walls under eaves. It is not rated for direct heavy rain exposure or fully unprotected positions.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2700K for a traditional outdoor glow.

What does the waterfall glass do?

The rippled waterfall glass diffuses light across vertical waves, softening direct glare from the bulb while creating shadow patterns on surrounding walls. The glass is transparent enough to show the bulb shape inside while preventing harsh point-source glare.

Can it be mounted either side of a door?

Yes. The 164mm width and 200mm projection work well in pairs flanking a standard UK front door. The backplate mounts to a vertical surface using two screws through the rear fixing plate.
