Description

The Canto is a single-light wall fitting with a rectangular graphite metal frame surrounding clear acrylic side panels, housing one E27 bulb at the centre. The 265mm-high frame holds two vertical acrylic strips that diffuse the bulb's light outward while allowing the filament or LED element to remain visible through the clear material.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms and living room accent positions, the Canto sits 90mm proud of the wall and casts light both up and down the wall surface as well as forward into the room. The narrow 150mm width suits installations above side tables, beside doorways, or flanking a mirror or artwork where symmetrical pairs are used. The graphite finish on the metal frame provides a darker accent against white or light-coloured walls, giving contrast in contemporary and industrial-leaning interiors.

The clear acrylic panels are 3mm thick and run the full height of the frame, creating a defined rectangle of diffused light when the bulb is on. The frame itself is powder-coated steel in a matte graphite finish that resists fingerprints and shows minimal wear over time. At 0.8kg, the fitting is light enough for standard plasterboard fixings with cavity anchors, though solid wall fixings are recommended for heavier wall surfaces. The E27 socket accepts any standard screw-base bulb up to 60W, and the fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmable bulb and trailing-edge dimmer.

The Canto takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-8W warm-white LED bulb at 2700K for ambient hallway or bedroom lighting, or a decorative filament bulb where the bulb itself is part of the aesthetic.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with a dimmable bulb and connected to a compatible dimmer switch. Trailing-edge dimmers work best with LED bulbs. The fitting itself does not include dimming electronics.

Can it be fitted to plasterboard walls?

Yes. At 0.8kg, the fitting can be mounted on plasterboard using cavity wall anchors rated for at least 5kg each. For solid brick or block walls, standard wall plugs and screws are suitable.

Does the light shine through the acrylic or just up and down?

Both. The clear acrylic side panels diffuse light outward into the room, while the open top and bottom of the frame allow light to wash up and down the wall surface. The overall effect is a combination of forward-facing ambient light and wall-wash illumination.
