Description

A square-based lamp in polished chrome, narrow in footprint and tall enough to throw light across a bedside or a desk. The base is 15cm square and the lamp stands 49cm, giving a slim upright column with a mirror-bright surface that picks up whatever is around it. There is an E27 lampholder at the top and an inline switch part-way down the flex, so it can be turned on and off without reaching behind the furniture it sits on.

It arrives as a base only, ready for a shade of your choosing, which makes it a useful starting point if you already have a shade you like or want to match one to a room later. We would put it on a bedside table, a hall console or either end of a sideboard, where the reflective column keeps the look light rather than bulky. It takes up to 20W, and an LED GLS lamp suits it well. If you want the level adjustable, choose a dimmable lamp and pair it with a compatible dimmer.

The polished chrome is bright and even, so it works happily alongside chrome taps, mirror frames and other metal fittings in the same room. Keep it looking its best by buffing lightly with a clean dry cloth to lift fingerprints and dust; leave anything abrasive or damp well away from the plating, and let the lamp cool before handling.
