Description
The Cambridge is a 25-light three-tier chandelier cast in solid brass with a burnished finish, measuring 1247mm in diameter and 1192mm in fitting height. The chandelier is built around a central column of turned brass spheres and beaded ball fonts, from which three tiers of curved brass arms extend, each tier carrying its own set of candle-style E14 fittings. The burnished brass finish gives the metal a warm golden tone with slight tonal variation across the surface, typical of hand-finished solid brass.
Designed for high-ceiling spaces with a minimum ceiling height of 3.5m (accounting for the 1350mm minimum drop plus chandelier height), the Cambridge suits large dining rooms, entrance halls and double-height living spaces where a substantial light fitting is needed. The three-tier configuration distributes the 25 lights vertically across approximately 1.2m of height, providing layered illumination rather than a single concentrated plane of light. The chandelier ships with 3048mm of chain, adjustable on installation to suit ceiling heights from 3.5m to 6m.
Each of the 25 arms terminates in a drip tray and candle sleeve designed to hold an E14 bulb (sold separately), with a maximum load of 40W per bulb. The solid brass construction, including the cast scrollwork arms and turned column elements, gives the chandelier a substantial 15-20kg weight, requiring secure ceiling fixings and a suitable joist or concrete ceiling structure. The burnished finish develops a natural patina over time as the brass oxidises, deepening the golden tone — this is a characteristic of solid brass rather than a defect.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Cambridge take?
The chandelier takes 25 E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs, each rated to a maximum of 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for a traditional candle-flame effect.
What ceiling height is needed?
A minimum ceiling height of 3.5m is recommended to allow for the 1350mm minimum drop plus the 1192mm fitting height, with clearance beneath. The 3048mm chain allows the chandelier to be used in spaces up to 6m ceiling height when fully extended.
How is the chain length adjusted?
The chain is adjusted during installation by removing or adding links to suit the ceiling height. Once fitted, the drop is fixed — it cannot be adjusted without taking the chandelier down and re-wiring.
Does the burnished brass finish change over time?
Yes. Solid brass naturally oxidises and develops a deeper patina over time. The burnished finish will gradually darken and show tonal variation, which is characteristic of the material. To maintain the original burnished tone, the brass can be periodically polished with a brass cleaner, though many owners prefer to allow the natural patina to develop.
