Description

The Calverdale is a two light wall fitting in bright nickel, with faceted cut glass shades that break the light into small bright points. It measures 300mm across and 260mm high and projects 164mm from the wall, so it holds its own above a fireplace or a sideboard without crowding the room. Two E14 lampholders each take a 6W LED bulb, and the fitting is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs. It weighs 1.6kg, carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor rooms and needs an earthed supply as a Class 1 fitting.

Cut glass earns its place where you want a little sparkle at eye level, so this wall light works well in a sitting room, a dining room, or a hallway that could do with more than a flat wash of light. A pair either side of a mirror or a chimney breast gives a balanced arrangement, and the dimming means the same wall sconce can be bright for company and low for a quiet evening. Bright nickel is a cool silver tone, so it sits comfortably with grey and off white walls and with chrome or nickel ironmongery.

The frame and backplate are metal in a bright nickel finish, and each shade is cut glass with flat facets that catch light from every angle. Dust the facets with a soft dry brush or cloth, since a folded cloth will not reach into the cuts, then wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry at once. As a Class 1 fitting it must be earthed, so it is worth checking your wall box before you order. The same cut glass runs through the Calverdale floor lamp, linear pendant, semi-flush ceiling lights and chandelier, and this wall light is also made in antique brass.
