Description
The Caldrin is an 800mm diameter chandelier built around a circular brass frame, with flat panels of natural Spanish alabaster arranged in a tiered, drum-like configuration. Ten E14 lamps sit inside the ring, lighting the alabaster from within so the stone itself becomes the diffuser. The fitting measures 330mm in height and is finished in soft white and brass, with slender radial brass arms securing each stone panel to the central structure.
At 800mm across, the Caldrin suits dining rooms, open-plan kitchen-diners, double-height entrance halls and larger living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. The chandelier is supplied with a fabric-wrapped suspension stem rising to a brushed brass ceiling rose. The 10 x E14 lamp count gives sufficient output to act as the primary light source over a 6-8 seat dining table or an island worktop, with the alabaster softening the light into a warm wash rather than direct downward glare.
Each alabaster panel is cut from solid stone and shows different veining, tonal variation and translucency depending on the section it was taken from. The panels are mounted vertically in two staggered tiers, creating a stepped lower edge that catches light differently to a flat-bottomed drum. The brass radial arms project beyond the alabaster ring, finished with small brass pins that secure each panel and read as deliberate fixings rather than concealed hardware. Bulbs are sold separately.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Caldrin take?
The chandelier takes 10 x E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. For warm ambient light through the alabaster, most buyers pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs at 2700K-3000K. Maximum wattage per lamp should be confirmed against the supplied installation guide.
What ceiling height is needed?
With a body height of 330mm plus the suspension stem and ceiling rose, the Caldrin is best suited to ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. Over a dining table the chandelier typically hangs 750-850mm above the surface, which gives clear sightlines across the table.
Is each alabaster panel identical?
No. Each panel is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so veining, mineral density and translucency vary between pieces. This variation is a feature of the natural stone and contributes to the way light reads differently across the circumference once the chandelier is lit.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe the panels with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes and any chemical cleaners, and do not soak the stone. For stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, dried immediately afterwards.
