Description

The Calbette is a rise-and-fall ceiling pendant with a wide dome shade of white alabaster glass, its soft swirled pattern diffusing the bulb's light into a gentle glow. A beech wood collar sits where the shade meets the coiled cord, and a satin nickel band and a silver ceiling cup complete a body of plastic and wood. The light measures 110cm tall overall and 36cm across the shade. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 60W, which is not included, and its IP20 rating settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

Because the height adjusts by hand, this pendant suits a dining table or a kitchen table, where you can draw the shade down low for a meal and lift it back towards the ceiling once the table is cleared. The warm beech and white glass give a homely, traditional feel that sits comfortably in a farmhouse kitchen, a dining room or a study. At 36cm across, the shade is broad enough to pool light across the tabletop, and the alabaster glass softens the glare for anyone seated at the table.

There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, and as a mains ceiling light it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions come as a download.
