Description

This is a round recessed downlight with a matt white trim and an integrated LED, spreading light widely across a room rather than throwing a tight pool beneath it. It draws 24W and gives 2160 lumens at a warm 3000K, a tone that reads soft and slightly golden against white paint and pale timber. The driver is supplied with it, and the fitting is switched rather than dimmed, so output stays at one steady level. There is no lamp to change.

We reach for a broad round downlight like this where a ceiling would otherwise need a crowd of small ones: kitchens, hallways, landings and open-plan corners all take it well, and a few spaced across a room give flat, workable light without harsh hotspots. The warm tone makes it comfortable in living rooms and bedrooms too. It is one we suggest when a room needs even light from above and a pendant would only be in the way. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, as a shower area or an open porch wants a sealed fitting instead.

The face is finished in a low-sheen white that sits quietly against a plastered ceiling and stays discreet when the light is off, and the body is shallow for its width. For cleaning, isolate the circuit, allow the fitting to cool, then draw a dry microfibre cloth over the trim and the lit face; solvents and cream cleaners will dull the white, so leave them in the cupboard. It carries a three year warranty.
