Description

The Cabaret is a suspended LED pendant light designed by Pierre Gonalons for Maytoni, pairing a brass-finished metal frame with a transparent glass shade shaped as a tapered rectangular tube. The frame forms an inverted U-shape handle above the shade, with a cylindrical brass ceiling rose at the top and a horizontal brass bar at the base supporting the glass. An integrated 8W LED module inside the glass casts 3000K warm-white light downward through the clear shade.

Designed for installation above dining tables, kitchen islands, and hallway surfaces where directed ambient light is needed, the Cabaret provides focused downward illumination rather than broad room lighting. The transparent glass allows the LED light source and internal components to remain visible when the fitting is switched on, emphasising the technical materiality of the design. What ceiling height is required?

The minimum drop of 39cm suits standard UK ceiling heights of 2.4m when the pendant is positioned 600-700mm above a dining table or island. For higher ceilings, the drop extends up to 329cm, allowing the fitting to be positioned at the same working height in rooms with double-height or vaulted ceilings.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only. The fitting is not rated for use in bathrooms, wet rooms, or any location where it may be exposed to moisture or splashing.

How is the glass cleaned?

The transparent glass shade can be wiped with a soft cloth and standard glass cleaner when the fitting is switched off and cool. Avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the brass components or the LED module.
