Byron 1 Light Outdoor Wall Lantern - Imperial Bronze with Copper Reflector

The Byron is a 368mm outdoor wall lantern with a rectangular frame in imperial bronze finish, housing a single E27 bulb behind clear bevelled glass panels. A hammered copper reflector sits behind the bulb socket, amplifying light output and adding warmth to the glow. The bevelled glass edges catch and refract light at angles, creating subtle prismatic effects on adjacent surfaces after dark.

Designed for external walls, the Byron suits porches, covered patios, either side of front doors, and garden feature walls where a traditional lantern style pairs with brick, render or painted masonry. The IP44 rating provides protection against water splashes from any direction, making the fitting suitable for positions under eaves or porch canopies but not in fully exposed locations subject to driving rain. The 178mm projection from the wall gives enough standoff to cast light downward and outward without the lantern sitting too far into circulation space.

The imperial bronze finish is a dark, slightly weathered metal tone that sits between antique brass and oil-rubbed bronze, showing subtle variations in patina across the frame. The hammered copper reflector behind the bulb adds a second metallic accent visible through the glass when the fitting is off, and intensifies the warm tone when the bulb is lit. The clear glass is bevelled on all four vertical edges, giving the lantern a more refined appearance than flat-pane alternatives. At 368mm tall and 203mm wide, the Byron works as a single fitting on narrow pier walls or in pairs flanking doorways up to 1200mm wide.

What bulb does the Byron take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the copper reflector and traditional lantern style.

Can it be used in fully exposed positions?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making the Byron suitable for positions under eaves, porch canopies and covered patios. It is not rated for fully exposed positions subject to driving rain or direct weather without overhead shelter.

How is the lantern fitted to the wall?

The Byron mounts to a standard outdoor junction box via a backplate concealed behind the lantern body. The 178mm projection includes the backplate depth, so the visible lantern sits approximately 140-150mm from the finished wall surface once installed.

Does the copper reflector tarnish over time?

The hammered copper reflector is sealed inside the glass enclosure, so it is not exposed to moisture or oxidising conditions. Tarnishing is minimal under normal use, though the reflector may darken slightly with age depending on bulb heat and usage hours.
