Description

The Byrd table lamp is built around a ceramic globe, marbled in drifting swirls of cream, sand and grey, so the base looks like a small sculpture even when the lamp is switched off. A slim stem rises from the globe to a tapered lampshade, and beneath the globe a round disc sits on a plinth painted Matt Black (RAL 9005). Made of ceramic and brass, it stands 45cm tall and 30cm wide and holds a single bulb.

We like it on a bedside table, where its height suits reading before sleep and the round base keeps the footprint tidy, or on a side table in the living room beside a sofa or armchair. It sits just as well on a sideboard or console in a sitting room, for evenings when the ceiling light is too much. The marbled ceramic brings natural texture against the crisp line of the metal stem, and its cream and grey tones settle into pale and dark rooms alike. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, which makes bedrooms and living rooms its natural home.

The Byrd comes in a choice of finishes: Antique Brass & Matt Black, Antique Silver & Matt Black, Polished Brass & Matt Black and Satin Brass & Matt Black. In every one, the black is the same Matt Black, so you choose only the tone of the metal that partners it. Each lamp is made to order for you. It is a Class II fitting, and it plugs in with a UK plug. Bulbs are sold separately: it takes one E27 bulb, up to 40W per bulb, so choose one when you order the lamp.
