Bromley 1 Light Outdoor Wall Lantern Small - Oil Rubbed Bronze

The Bromley is a 299mm outdoor wall lantern with a single E27 fitting housed inside a tapered hexagonal frame of clear glass panels. The die-cast aluminium body carries an oil rubbed bronze finish with exposed brass highlights along the edges, and the lantern mounts on a rectangular wall plate that projects 233mm from the façade. A decorative finial tops the hinged lid, and the glass panels are held in a metal frame that tapers from a wider base to a narrower crown.

Designed for covered porches, side entrances and garage doors, the Bromley carries an IP44 rating making it suitable for locations sheltered from direct rain and spray but exposed to damp outdoor conditions. The 60W maximum rating accepts standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulbs (sold separately), allowing the user to choose colour temperature and brightness to suit the façade. The 203mm width suits narrower wall sections next to doors or between windows without overwhelming the proportion of a typical residential entrance.

The oil rubbed bronze finish provides a dark base tone that recedes into shadowed wall areas during daylight, while the exposed brass detailing along the frame edges catches low-angle sun and creates visual definition. The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion in damp coastal and urban environments better than steel alternatives, and the hinged top lid allows bulb changes without removing the lantern from the wall. The clear glass maximises light output compared to frosted or seeded glass variants, making the Bromley better suited to task lighting than purely decorative applications.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 indicates the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. This makes the Bromley suitable for covered porches, door canopies and garage entrances where it is sheltered from direct rainfall but exposed to damp outdoor air. It is not rated for fully exposed positions without overhead cover.

What bulb should I use?

The lantern takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users fit a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for entrance lighting. Clear glass maximises light output, so a lower-wattage LED often provides sufficient illumination for doorways and pathways.

How is the bulb accessed for replacement?

The top lid is hinged and lifts open to allow bulb changes without removing the entire lantern from the wall. The hinge mechanism is part of the die-cast frame and does not require tools to operate.

What finish is the bronze?

The finish is oil rubbed bronze, which is a dark bronze base with exposed brass highlights along the frame edges. This creates contrast between the recessed surfaces and the raised edge detailing, particularly visible when the lantern is lit.
