Description

The Brillix is an outdoor LED wall light with a rectangular grey metal housing and an angled polycarbonate diffuser panel, containing an integrated 9W 3000K LED. The angled diffuser directs warm white light downwards onto paths, steps and patio areas while the IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water spray from any direction.

Designed for mounting on exterior walls near entrance doors, alongside garage doors, or at intervals along garden paths and boundary walls, the Brillix provides functional task lighting rather than decorative wash lighting. The 100mm width and 164mm projection from the wall give enough light spread to cover a 1-2m ground area directly below the fitting. The grey powder-coated finish resists corrosion and fading in outdoor conditions.

The polycarbonate diffuser is impact-resistant and UV-stabilised, remaining clear under years of sun exposure without yellowing. The rectangular metal body mounts via two fixing points on the back plate, with cable entry through a rear knockout suitable for surface-mounted conduit or direct burial SWA cable. The integrated LED is non-replaceable but rated for 30,000+ hours of use, equivalent to approximately 10 years at 8 hours per night.

Can this be used in exposed coastal locations?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and water spray, making it suitable for most UK outdoor locations including sheltered coastal areas. For fully exposed coastal sites with salt spray, consider a higher IP65-rated fitting or apply a protective coating to the metal housing.

What is the light output?

The integrated 9W LED at 3000K typically produces around 800-900 lumens, similar to a traditional 60W incandescent bulb. This provides enough downward light to illuminate a 1-2m area directly beneath the fitting for safe navigation on paths and steps.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated into the housing and non-replaceable. However, the LED is rated for 30,000+ hours of use, equivalent to approximately 10 years of nightly operation at 8 hours per night. A 5-year warranty covers the entire fitting.

How is it wired?

The fitting has a rear cable entry knockout suitable for surface-mounted conduit or direct burial SWA cable. Installation requires connection to a switched 230V mains supply via outdoor-rated cable and must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
