Bridgepoint Outdoor 1 Light Medium Wall Lantern - Natural Brass

The Bridgepoint is a medium-sized outdoor wall lantern built around a spherical clear seeded glass globe enclosed in a protective brass cage, mounted on a rectangular backplate in natural brass. The lantern holds a single E27 bulb (sold separately, maximum 60W) inside the glass, with the cage providing both physical protection and visual reference to traditional ship lanterns.

Designed for external walls on porches, patios, and coastal properties, the Bridgepoint carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water and solid objects larger than 1mm. The 258mm projection from the wall and the decorative upper bracket give the fitting a proportioned presence on rendered, brick or timber-clad exteriors. The natural brass finish weathers over time when exposed to the elements, developing a patina that darkens the metal and reduces its initial shine.

The seeded glass has air bubbles trapped within it during manufacture, creating texture that catches and diffuses light from the bulb. The aluminium construction keeps the weight manageable for typical external wall fixings, and the cage bars provide a visual rhythm around the glass without blocking significant light output. The rectangular backplate measures approximately 120mm wide and mounts to a standard UK outdoor electrical back box.

What IP rating does it carry and where can it be used?

The Bridgepoint is rated IP44, which protects against splashing water from any direction and solid objects larger than 1mm. This makes it suitable for covered porches, wall positions under eaves, and patio areas where the fitting is not directly exposed to heavy rain or hosing. It is not rated for full submersion or direct high-pressure water jets.

Does the natural brass patina over time?

Yes. Natural brass is a living finish that reacts with moisture, oxygen and salt in the air. The brass will darken and develop a patina over months and years, particularly in coastal locations or humid climates. This is a characteristic of the material, not a defect. If you prefer to maintain the original brightness, the fitting would need periodic polishing with a brass-specific cleaner.

What bulb should I use?

The lantern takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair it with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to match the traditional lantern aesthetic. Bulbs are sold separately.

How far does it project from the wall?

The fitting projects 258mm from the wall once installed. The decorative upper bracket adds further visual height above the backplate, giving a total fitting height of 405mm from the base of the backplate to the top of the bracket.
