Description
The Kichler Bridgepoint is a 334mm outdoor wall lantern built around a seeded glass globe enclosed in a natural brass cage, mounted on a curved brass arm and rectangular backplate. The lantern houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind the textured glass, which diffuses the light into a warm ambient glow. The metal cage references traditional railway and ship lanterns, with horizontal ribs around the globe and a domed brass cap at the top.
Designed for covered porches, front doors, garden walls and courtyard passages, the Bridgepoint carries an IP44 rating that protects against rain splash and dust ingress in exposed positions. The 207mm projection from the wall suits narrow passages where a deeper lantern would obstruct movement. The natural brass finish develops a patina over time when exposed to weather, deepening the tonal variation across the metal surface.
The aluminium construction keeps the lantern light enough to mount on standard external wall substrates without additional support, while the brass plating gives corrosion resistance in coastal and high-humidity environments. The seeded glass texture breaks up the bulb filament into scattered points of light rather than a single bright source, reducing glare when viewed from below. The E27 socket accepts LED, halogen or traditional filament bulbs up to 60W, allowing control over light temperature and brightness.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The Bridgepoint is suitable for covered porches, wall-mounted positions under eaves, and garden walls where direct rainfall is minimal. It is not rated for full exposure to driving rain or submersion.
Does the natural brass tarnish?
Yes. Natural brass develops a patina over time when exposed to weather, deepening from a bright golden tone to a darker, mottled finish. This is a characteristic of the material and can be slowed by applying a clear lacquer, or accelerated by leaving it untreated in coastal or humid environments.
What bulb is recommended?
The lantern takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to match the traditional appearance of the brass and seeded glass. Bulbs are sold separately.
Can it be mounted on brick or rendered walls?
Yes. The rectangular backplate has pre-drilled mounting holes for fixing to masonry, brick, render or timber cladding. Use appropriate wall plugs and screws for the substrate type. The aluminium construction means the lantern does not require additional support brackets.
