Description

The Bold is a 200mm opal sphere outdoor wall light mounted on a grey powder-coated aluminium wall plate. The fitting takes one E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and carries an IP54 rating, providing protection against dust ingress and water spray from any direction, making it suitable for sheltered outdoor positions.

Designed for front doors, porch areas, covered patios and garden walls under eaves, the Bold provides general ambient light through its spherical opal diffuser. The 270mm overall height and 200mm projection from the wall give enough presence to mark an entrance or light a pathway without overwhelming a typical residential facade. The fitting mounts to a standard outdoor junction box with back plate fixings concealed behind the wall plate.

The aluminium construction resists corrosion in typical UK coastal and urban environments, while the grey powder-coat finish pairs with both rendered and brick walls in contemporary builds. The opal diffuser is UV-stabilised polycarbonate rather than glass, reducing weight and breakage risk in public or high-traffic areas. The sphere conceals the bulb completely when viewed from any angle, preventing glare while casting light evenly in all directions around the fitting.

It is not rated for full exposure to driving rain or submersion, so avoid completely unprotected positions on open walls.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor ambient lighting.

Is the sphere glass or plastic?

The sphere is UV-stabilised polycarbonate, not glass. This reduces weight, improves impact resistance and makes the fitting safer in public or high-traffic areas where accidental breakage could occur.
